Pope Francis said on Thursday that Donald Trump "is not Christian" if he calls for the deportation of illegal immigrants and pledges to build a wall between the United States and Mexico.

"A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian. This is not the gospel," the Pope told journalists.

Donald Trump responded to the criticism.

"If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, I can promise you that the Pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been president,"

On social media a storm of criticism against Pope Francis statements have exploded, were critics pointed out that the Vatican itself has its own massive wall. And pictures of Christian historical walls have been shared, as well as satirical pictures, to point out the hypocrisy from Pope Francis and the Vatican.
