97 Nigerian immigrants has been deported from South Africa for alleged civil and criminal offences that have caused racial clashes in the country.

The deportees, who were 95 males and two females, arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport from Johannesburg on Monday night, reports.

The situation in parts of South Africa is described as a "race war", between South African nationalists and Nigerian immigrants, as violence and xenophobic attacks increases.

Many Nigerians are said to have been injured due to the violent attacks.

In the past weeks, South African nationalists have been vandalising houses, cars, churches and businesses owned by Nigerians in their country, accusing them for drug trafficking and other criminal activities.
