Three female ‘sperm collectors’ are on the run from police after they allegedly picked up a man and raped him in a bid to ‘harvest’ his DNA.

The women abducted the hitchhiker from a park in the Zimbabwean city of Bulawayo earlier this month. During the incident, it’s alleged that only one of the three women used a condom, while the others had unprotected sex. They then took away his semen before leaving him on the side of the road.

“They picked their victim at an illegal hiking point,” Bulawayo police spokesman Inspector Precious Simango said. “They told him they were taking a short cut,” Simango added according to The Chronicle.

It’s not the first time this kind of crime has been committed in Zimbabwe. In 2011, three women were arrested after they were caught at a roadblock with 31 sperm filled condoms and last year a man allegedly collected sperm from a homeless 18-year-old.

Victims are drugged or threatened with weapons, given a sexual stimulant and forced to have sex repeatedly before being dumped on the side of the road.

According to The Daily Mail in a article from 2012, men are afraid of prostitutes in Zimbabwe, because this type of crime is nothing new or rare. The semen is said to be used in religious rituals in the country.

“Obviously we know (it is) being used for rituals,” said University of Zimbabwe sociologist Watch Ruparanganda, who believes semen has become a lucrative commodity in Zimbabwe.
